Miss Kristin and her new single “Summer Time Rock” are rocking the beach city of Santa Cruz with new fervor. The catchy and fun pop rock tune is manifesting joy and summer time fun for all who hear it.

The music video has been created using some of the best Santa Cruz, California area and Beach Boardwalk features. YouTube is hosting the video on the Big Fuss Records user page.
The warm weather song is the brainchild of a talented songwriter from Africa who goes by the name of “Condor”. Condor is a pop punk style songwriter who first introduced the contagious track to Miss Kristin at the start of summer season 2011.

Kristin saw the potential in the addictive number and started the wheels in motion for a delightful production in which Kristin performs all instruments and vocals. The new rock summer time single is published Brave Girl Music BMI.

I don’t claim to know about another artist but for my artistry, there is always a song that is hardest to sing on a collection ~ one that conjures up emotion potent and hits me right in the gut. It’s frightening and challenging to sing and vocalize to the point I try to avoid it like the plague!!! Usually the song is a melancholic with highs and lows…with a lyric that cuts like a knife. Enough to make me cringe! These two intertwined together craft what becomes a lasting photograph in people’s minds and hearts. It is but a snapshot of our time and usually a great healing or truth for me the artist.

I believe every human being and some animals at times are faced with the idea of loneliness and poverty. It may come and go.
THERE IS SUCH A THING AS SPIRITUAL POVERTY and poverty is a word that covers much.

There is financial poverty...

There is real hunger, for instance in third world countries. (Now that is impoverished!)

This is writing about "Loneliness and Poverty", the song and the subject.

I wrote the song "Loneliness and Poverty", after a long thought of my fellow man and friends who are homeless and outcast and poor. Take for instance a person who hardly has a quarter for bus fare or food. How might it feel to have nowhere to go and no one to see?

I imagined myself lying on a park bench with nothing but time...no money, not a dime....a transient outsider, banished from family and friends. I went there. I put my own abandonment, loneliness, and fear (all I had ever imagined and experienced) into what another being might be feeling, in hopes of feeling the pain and letting it go. (I went to the place we all are meant to face, and came out the other side)

Why? For my own Wholeness, Freedom, and Justice. I wrote the song "Loneliness And Poverty", knowing the good that would come from my song. (Wholeness, Freedom, Justice)

"Loneliness And Poverty", hmmm I don't buy it and consider it a lie. The breath of life is gift enough for me to rejoice. It was my heart's desire to expose the truth. It was my heart's desire to remind people, that "Loneliness and Poverty" is a state of mind, and not the truth. It was my need to be healed and my purpose to heal others.

Today I have freedom. I do think it takes a bit of effort when the feeling comes to expose the lie-and take control of the mind with right thoughts. It is not anything outside of ourselves that make us whole or complete, but the state of our mind and heart inside that determines our outward lives. There is always someway to GIVE; some way to LIVE free from "Loneliness and Poverty".

Now I am still young and have a way to go, so I do not claim to know everything but today I believe "Loneliness and Poverty" is a deceptive state of mind. Let it go...let it go...

Music, Love and Power

Some of you may be aware of my love for dark moody music. I love artists that seem to write and record songs where others fear to tread. They follow paths of sorrow, and find the seedy places of the soul to express and console. Believe it or not, I find this music quite appealing and healing.

Two of my all time favorite artist’s are THE COWBOY JUNKIES and LUCINDA WILLIAMS. Both of these unique artists approach their music in a slighted and realistic way. I fell in love with The Cowboy Junkies when I was facing a major life rising.

The music bug had hit big and I had realized, I was going to single mindedly write and create my catalog in solitude, and that life would bring what it may. I felt a leading to be set free from any bondage and chains through past hurts that were attempting to hold me and mold me into a frozen tiger. I was going to delve into the deep and come out the other side into the roaring lioness I am today.

Seasons came and went and through them was created what is now this great music you are about to hear. And when the quiet became unbearable, I would put my favorite Cowboy Junkies disc in the player and set a fire in the yard and begin to go to the dark place until it felt so good happiness would return.

Listening to songs about death, loneliness and broken hearts (“Lay It Down” and “Pale Sun Crescent Moon” by The Cowboy Junkies were masterpieces that soothed my soul). The music gave me comfort and caused my own loneliness to leave (perhaps for good). Lucinda Williams “Car Wheels On A Gravel Road” embraced the irony of life and love, and assisted me in patiently waiting for my time to come. These writers helped me become a better writer.

There were other writers too, but the reason I am sharing this thought at all, is to say, don’t be afraid of the dark. You have to go through some things to come out the other side. If you never go there and feel your pain, you will likely stuff it and it will likely affect your quality of life. Music is a safe journey and an easy way to tap into your painful emotions without having to endure trouble.

LOVE AND PAIN

The other day I was working in the front room of my house with the windows wide open. Outside was a young man in his late twenties or so, crying and screaming into his cell phone as he walked around in front of my house obviously breaking up with his love partner.

He was screaming and crying out, “CAN’T YOU SEE I LOVE YOU? DON’T DO THIS!!! I LOVE YOU!!! WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FROM ME??? I TRY TO LOVE YOU BUT YOU RUN!! I LOVE YOU!! NO, DON’T DO THIS!!”

He was painfully distressed and I was heart wrenched for the guy! It brought me back to a time past when I’d had my heart broken and all this beautiful music was born. Man, CAN LOVE HURT!!

I remembered as my heart was pounding with pain through my ex’s cold response for my loving dilemma. With this particular relationship I was tore up from the floor up! I wanted to die. I lay on the bed sobbing for what felt like days. I flashed on the times (two in hindsight) things went the other way around and I had broken my lover’s hearts. I started to see both sides of the coin. I began to really know how it felt when the dream of love died. Only then was I beginning to see what love really was.

From that point on, I made it a point to walk carefully and handle with care my choices for love. I embraced the idea of loving myself in a big way first and not falling for the easy route hooking up because I did not want to be alone or lonely. I chose to face any fears and loneliness head on and put to rest any co-dependence that comes from insecurity. I’d focus on my personal healing and education of love in order to really have a great love one day. I still believe and contently wait as I become more beautiful and whole by the day.

We are ever changing and as I grow more mature, I see how our needs change. It often takes living through some great pain to realize what it is we really have when we stand in the flame of love. Love is a powerful energy and a state of great enlightenment. It seems so simple yet complicated and illusive. Unconditional love was all I ever hoped for. And a GREAT MAN with a GREAT HEART who loved a GREAT GOD. Am I asking too much? Good things come to those who wait? I still believe.

For now,I shall let the music tell the story.

Summer is nearing it's end and being a warm weather girl, I'm setting my sites toward an Indian Summer. (In more ways than one)

The "Free" CD has been shipped to radio around the world and we have had quite a few positive comments from radio stations and fans who are really enjoying the music! I for one love the single "Indian Summer" and had a great time creating my own video for the music with my handy hi def camera! I enjoy the concept of this album "Free" and in all I do attempt to incorporate the idea by enjoying creating freely without being too concerned with what people may think. My motto is "Do the best you can with what you've got!" and I live by those words and am thoroughly enjoying the journey! My home is presently in renovation as we are building a new rehearsal space in the garage.The guys are underway with sheet rock and whatever else is needed for soundproofing and such.

I have been invited to play gigs and have more requests coming so my hope is to get the rehearsal room ready and then get underway with the next stage of Miss Kristin music. Now I have performed live for some time solo and with various groups, but the time has come for me to up my game and dial the show in! Practicing Non Judgment and MUSIC

Almost every day, in my prayers I ask the Lord to allow me to practice non-judgment. There is a lot of judgment as we walk our individual roads in life. And as we walk further and grow more, it often seems like there is even more division and judgment. This is a crafty trick to cause non-love in our lives. Don’t fall for it! PRACTICE NON-JUDGMENT!

Lately, I have been coming into a lot of criticism, and negative opinions.(This seems to happen especially after each new collection I release.) This happens a lot to folks, who are doing something with their dreams.
Mostly from those who are not. Or people who think they are, but not doing well at seeing their achievements. Some criticism is good and welcome, but always we must understand the motive. What is causing one to desire to judge another?

I am a sensitive woman, and when I feel bombarded by a so called attack, I have been taught to shake it off! Let it go quickly and wait and reply in love. I pray not to partake in the behavior. I do pretty well to be honest with you. Sometimes though around full moon eclipses and vital times of change, I notice the forces coming against me. More often than not, after I have faced some great personal fear.

We as artists need to become strong in Love so that we are well equipped to sing and produce like soldiers going to war. All because we love music and it is a gift that blesses people and lifts spirits.

The music business is a tough business. I don’t have to tell anyone that. It’s expensive, very mysterious and it can be nerve wracking with the work that goes into the live aspect mixed with the writing aspect, mixed with the recording aspect mixed with the business aspect. It’s a lot for anyone to handle. Even more so for independents who don’t have a staff much of the time. (I still believe for mine)

We do the best we can with what we have. We do what we have to do to allow us to create and make a living having the time to do what we love. We are good at multitasking, and doing what it takes, to get to our LOVE. Music for me is a huge sacrifice, and a huge love. It is a great gift I have been given as a writer first.
My dreams are to compose for other artists as well as myself. I’d like to do movies and television too.

Presently, my track “Look To You” is in stores across Europe and I am please to be garnering more income from my work. For now, and, at least the next ten years it is all about the MUSIC for ME.
I’m gonna give it all I got, and I don’t care what anyone says! Go ahead, … Tell me I suck!! Tell me to give it up already!! It won’t happen. I love what I do and that’s all that matters. I pray you love it too. Cause I got the music in me!

The essence of Kristin’s magical compositions on her upcoming collection “Whole In My Soul” from Big Fuss Records, consciously reveals a landscape of grace in our world and what might be, through sight, sound, and emotion.

Envisioning her own imagination preceding reality; Kristin envelops musical life experience of the sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties, composing for a new time with songs like “Love In”, “The Whole World Knows” and “Show Me What Love Is”. Kristin contagiously elevates and transcends time beautifully using her own life as conduit.

It would be 2009. And now that it's on the way out;

My heart is aware and filled with gratitude for all the provision and support I have received throughout the past year. Many thanks go out to you, my family, friends, and fans for listening, caring and sharing yourself with me so graciously. We have achieved so very much with very little.

The economy has been trying us all and the news is often saddening. Our brothers and sisters, friends and family have had their struggles before our eyes every day, and we love on, and hope on. I am uplifted. Let's keep the faith in strength for this is gonna get good! Just think 2010 is near; What a ring it has!

I am extremely grateful because I met my goals this year.
I set out at the beginning of 2009 to complete three collections.

Amazing Happens When We Least Expect It!

You never know what’s ahead, when you go by spirit anything and everything wonderful is possible!

Last summer I had a hankering to schedule a So Cal getaway, because it had been awhile since journeying south for an adventure. (Last time was 5 years ago I had a mini music tour with stops along the coast.) I wanted to go visit the place where my previous band mate/bass player and dear friend Dennis “Sox” Donovan, had drove his car off the cliff in Dana Point and took his life last March. I desired to go to the spot and send up some prayers in remembrance of him.

While I was meditating an old friend came to mind that I had known when I resided in Minneapolis Minnesota when I was 18 years young. I remembered he was originally from San Clemente and had moved to Minnesota to enjoy the lakes and people. I did an internet search and found him online.

I was lucky to surprise him and we had the most wonderful and blessed meeting. Now he had just suffered the loss of his father and his son within a month of each other and was really thrown a loop. So my timing was impeccable. This was no coincidence but a spirit thing.
I do believe the Lord’s hand at work here.

We visited at various times throughout the week and toward the end of the week, we got together for a lovely dinner at Adele’s in the San Clemente Inn. I was invited up to sing with the Frank Sinatra style band performing that Friday night. I had the Christmas spirit and so chose to sing my original songs, “The Time Of Our Lives” and “Santa On His Way” from A MISS KRISTIN CHRISTMAS. A great time was had by all.

We reminisced and more deeply rekindled an old friendship as well as making new friends with the locals. This was the hi-light of my journey although there were other blessings.

Monday night I sat in at THE GYPSY DEN and sang “YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU”.
It was a fun pleasure to meet the regulars and network a bit. The place was groovy too!
Great food and coffee with lots of talent! If you ever get to the Santa Ana area, I recommend this place for a musical stop off!

One goal when arriving here was to do some writing about being FREE for the new upcoming album FREE. I’ve been posting the new tracks at My Other MySpace Site

For some reason this task is a challenging one. What does it mean to be FREE? How does my new music affect people FREEly and set them FREE? These were all questions I was asking myself.

What I have come to understand after this wonderful journey is when we stay open, and embrace the unknown, blessings abound. You never know what good things God has in store for you when you trust Him and walk in the light. What does it mean to walk in the light? I like to think of it as walking in integrity. Listening to the still small voice inside, checking motives and finding true heart desires. And not being afraid.

My time here is about over, as I am to head back up the coast Sunday. I hope to do a Hollywood drive by to capture some fresh video and blow a kiss toward long lived memories of mine. Lord willing I will be returning here again before too long.
I would have liked to stay longer and the time went by way too fast.
The holiday’s are about here and there is much to do around my home so I feel compelled to return.

You may have noticed me making impromptu appearances at local clubs and churches to sing and perform solo as well as collecting footage and producing video to go along with some of my favorite songs. Whew!!
It's a full time labor of love and I have been enjoying every minute!
I am so grateful every day that I have been blessed with so much health, wealth, and vitality! All to do what I love!

Hands Full~ Radically Blessed !

I'm glad to meet new friends everywhere I go and online too....
It's always cool to hear where people are at with their musical tastes and desires.
Everyone is an artist in their way and I have great respect for individual creativity.

With such a plethora of new music coming out, it's challenging to keep up, but I will begin by saying one of my favorite collections is my new age album DESERT SEAS. I released this collection October 2008 and being a DIY artist, it has taken some time to get to promoting, and getting it out there, other than the usual myspace and radio station distribution. I am beginning to promote this bunch of songs more now all over the world via various outlets and it feels good. We are recieveing radio play and lots of great feedback.

I am in the process of releasing an early Fleetwood Mac cover album that is so very special too.
A MISS KRISTIN MAC ATTACK is this months release and I am preparing it to go up on iTunes, so you should be able to purchase by the holiday shopping rush. In June 2009, I released my patriotic collection MARCH ON. I spent the whole summer promoting and shipping the music to radio, doing my best to get it out there. It is always a busy time around my place of business, because I love what I do and it does not feel so much like work, but a good and great way of life.

One thing I can say about the larger amount of music to distribute is that is gets expensive and I live very frugally in order to pull it off! I do things myself like pedicures and haircuts, (I am a licensed hairdresser) and sometimes I barter for things I need. I find this helps me attain things that are extra expenses like iPods, hard drives, musical instruments, etc., so as to save money for the promotion of the music.

What I believe about being a DIY artist, is that the music propagates more gradually over time and has a lasting ability. So with these three releases, I will be extend for exposure over the next few years and then I believe they will go far by word of mouth, lasting long after I cross over to the other side of life.

So, like a music making machine of true love my intentions are to continue releasing my large catalog for the years to come. My next release FREE is in production and Lord willing I shall release it in the spring of 2010.

End Of Summer In Sedona Arizona

Living the single life for some time, I have grown accustomed to adventure. It’s easy to get away and do my thing (music and socializing) with only myself to answer to.

Now it was not easy for me at first, in fact there was a time it was rather frightening.

Being a woman and going out to different locals and getting on stages and such, driving through unknown canyons and corridors without a co-pilot felt nerve racking in the beginning.... but through facing my fears and “just doing it” choosing to live in the moment, celebrating the now and today..I have found my freedom and joy in living this adventure filled life -

This week I am visiting Sedona Arizona. I have the great blessing of staying in a lovely timeshare which is not unlike an apartment with a full kitchen and bath...laundry room and just about everything I would need to be comfortable away from home.

First thing I do if I haven’t already landed a booking before arriving is to scope out the music scene. I search for talented artists to go see and places to perhaps play and perform. My latest thrill is to bring my video camera everywhere with me so I can record the talent (and myself) whenever there is an opportunity.

Last night I had the awesome experience of performing at THE SPIRIT ROOM in Jerome, AZ.
It was my first time visiting this venue and WOW it was such a cool place!

The folks were so free in their spirit and integrated in friendship and love with one another- Some of the audience were locals, and some were visiting from other places, just checking out the amazing town of Jerome. Jerome is an adorable old western town that sits up on a cliff with the buildings built on this wall of land (hill). This was an open mic night and the talent was tremendous!

I was blessed to meet all these awesome artists doing their thing in Jerome!
This is an outstanding venue for live music and the stage was really sweet.
The host D.L. Harrison was not only talented but kind, warm and professional.

I was able to capture some awesome video too, so stay tuned,
I look forward to posting the vids upon my return home to the Silicon Valley.

Today I shall visit Montezuma’s Castle.
The Native American culture here is amazing and I am learning much more about the Native people of the area.

Before I headed to Jerome last night I had the awesome opportunity to experience the Native Flute performer Wolfs Robe aka Flute Man of Sedona.

He gave a wonderful time travel educational experience of the Native Flute with it’s beginnings and evolution through the ages. He played the flute with such feeling and passion. Feeling every note. In The Heat Of Summer

It's been an active and hot summer here in Northern California so far!
And now that we are at the midpoint when the nights are so fine...I'm soaking up the feeling and really taking it all in.

My gardens been coming up with harvest and I am eating off the land almost entirely.
I've had my hands full with sending CDs to radio stations around the world as well as my personal travels. Moneys tight but the music is mighty!

Las Vegas was a blast and great adventure for collecting video and rock and roll exploration.
My 1978 VW Camper bus keeps me busy on weekends for overnights at the beach as well as other awesome places. I play music everywhere I go, and creating is never better than in the great outdoors, so I am in my element as the summertime girl that I am.
It's a great place to get my thoughts straight and to be inspired as to what to do next... so I love every minute of the journey.

Last weekend I had the extreme blessing of attending a Cowboy Junkies concert.
They are my favorite band, I love their music, and I've seen em a bunch of times.
I do my best to attend their delightful show every year as they tour around.
They usually play outdoors where I see them and so it feels great to sit under the stars and open and close my eyes and just listen, taking it all in.

Every year Margo greets fans after the show and it's great to meet up and say hi.
I make it a point to gift them my latest and greatest cd just for the sake of sharing.
I do dream they one day might open for me - (smile) I think it would be an excellent bill!

Anyway...that was the 17th of July. Now it's the 21st.

I'm in motion moving and growing in my natural state,
I'm a wild one baby till Judgment day!

Tom has been a major contributor to my music and sound.
He is one of my best friends and I just love him dearly!

I believe you are going to be hearing and seeing a lot of Tom in the years to come, with all his exceptional talent and positive energy. We love this painting and feel Alison did a great job of capturing his look and character. I hope you like it too.

So what shall we do??? MARCH ON!!

This is my theme at this stage of the game.
March On! While there is a need for pleasure and comfort music brings,
I, Miss Kristin, shall rise to the call, and March On!

“March On” is finally complete and presently in design stages for album artwork and manufacturing. We hope to have the CD up on iTunes, Digstation, Amazon.Com and CDBaby this Mid May.

March On was composed entirely by me, Miss Kristin and I produced it as well.
March On is a real “dream come true” for me.
The songs mean a whole lot to me.
I poured my heart into them and honestly, they are one of the greatest gifts of my life. I have high hopes of touching and reaching people with their cool feel and encouraging words. So today I am so thankful.

As far as instrumentation goes, you will find me on all vocals, much acoustic guitar, a few songs worth of bass guitar,12 string guitar, all keyboards, and most drum programming with percussion production.
I also did the mixes myself and the mastering. I feel pleased with the outcome and think the tracks sound sick! (You know I mean great!)

The guitar work with the mad electrics and sick bass playing is the wonderfully talented and great Tom Landry . Tom also did a lot of the 12 sting work and all the J200 stuff. I would say he is low key on this collection, (for Tom) compared to how he usually rocks. (We do have another album already under way where he busts it up hard and makes quite the grand stand!) Tom is like an Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page. One of the greatest guitarists of all time…and he’s mine!!!!
(I am such a lucky girl) So if you desire to hear more of Tom now, be sure to check out his guitar playing on “The Runner” at MySpace and also he did a great job on “Amazing Power” which you can find on Digstation.

On again to other players; We had Craig Martin on Drums for “Potters Clay”, and Robert Holme on drums for “March On” and “Love Never Fails”. I was blessed to have the creative Suzanne Weller on harp and flute for “Love Takes Time” and Michelle Pollace Mills for bass guitar on the same song.

I love all the songs, but I think my favorite is “Instant Decision”.
I just love the whole feel of that song.
It’s kind of sad and happy. And I think it brings out the actress in me as well.
I also love “All For One People”, and “Love Takes Time”.
Oh my gosh....I love them all!!! (hopefully you will too!) Let me know ok?

My Favorite Things And Songs Blog Part II

This is a continuation; Lets begin with “Ribbons And Pearls”

"Ribbons And Pearls" is a collection of hopeful tracks I wrote when I was relatively sad. I found myself alone and asking myself real life questions. I was a bit angry at God for my past troubles and heartaches, which I believed stemmed from abandonment issues. I believe I was being reconciled through the writing. With songs like “To Come” which expressed the truth that God knew all and was behind even my fear and pain and would make good come from it and yes I would “come” to Him. I believed God was writing me the love songs telling me He had “Nothing But Love” for me (a favorite track on the disc) and “Ribbons And Pearls”, where he gave me something to hold. (HIM and the music) I was lonely and asking questions about my choices. He answered them through the songs. I like this disc a lot. This was the beginning of my journey with Tom Landry and his talents on guitars and other instruments. I was learning to do more myself at this point with producing in Pro Tools and using my natural instrumental talents. I mixed and mastered the disc myself and I think it sounds great for my first time. I was determined to learn and I knew the best way was to study and do it hands on.

I am proud of this collection and it was a great growing experience. Again, industry was having a difficult time classifying me with this disc. They were wondering, was I a Christian artist, a secular,
or new age gal…I was a woman who found my Creator through music and was searching to understand more in depth. That’s about it! Another favorite track on the CD is “Psalm 124”. I did not want to sing this song when I composed it…because I did not feel delivered. I did in faith though, believing we must speak those things that be not as though they are …so they will come to pass. Wheewww!
What a mouthful! To this day, it always lifts me up when I listen and sing to this track. Tom and I really enjoyed playing and singing this one too.

"Amazing Power"
Is a favorite collection of mine because I was doing my best to feature songs that would be uplifting and appealing to a wide range of listeners. I have many favorites on this album but my all time fav is “All I Ever Want”. I really enjoyed the recording process because we were adding new instruments like Violin and Pedal Steel Guitar. Tom Landry was giving me some really great guitar tracks and we were finding ourselves really excited creating together. We knew we had something really special the two of us working together. I especially like the rockers on this album like “Fall Away”, and “Immigration Song”,
not to mention the title track “Amazing Power”. This collection was “loaded” with great music. I love “Agony and Ecstasy” as it was written when I was really feeling excited and frightened at the same time with my muse (love). But honestly, every song on this album is great and I would definitely recommend purchasing “Amazing Power”.
I also did the mixing myself and the mastering. I actually find this album to be one of my best products. The music has a great organic feel and stands powerful as a whole. I was learning the business of creating (producing) and marketing my own collections. It was an exciting time, but I had so much more music to get to. I was doing the best I could to fund the process and to put it out there manufacturing and marketing to radio but money was running out. We made it through though and did get some radio airplay.

"A Miss Kristin Christmas"

I will only say that this whole collection, (seven songs) are favorites and this disc should not be missed if you are someone who tends to feel the downers of the holiday season and needs uplifting.
I can tell you firsthand that most of these songs came through my own great sadness and I think that is what makes them so beautiful. I was alone a lot with my family across the country. I was coming to terms with being on my own and making my own happiness. This would come as these songs were developed. Production on these tracks is raw and real. Not perfect or puffed up…just pure.
I do hope you will listen to the whole collection some season or seasons of your choosing.
I believe you will find the songs heart touching timeless and classic.

"The Runner"
I was most excited about “The Runner” yet it was the collection I hated to sing the most.
The songs were sad and I was even sadder….As far as the tracking was concerned; Tom and I were thrilled to be rocking hard and creating a free form style. Money had pretty much run out, and so we were doing most all the work ourselves. I was in a bit of a depression when I was to sing the tracks, and the whole collection pretty much was a discussion on what was going on with me running from myself and love throughout my early life. My spirit was leading me to expose my dark side so that I would put it to rest once and for all. I believed others could relate and would be healed when they were to latch on to what we were doing. I must say that after this album showed up and was sent out around the world, I was relieved and felt I had made peace with the past and was free from depression. I believe this collection has the power to heal depression, if one just “goes there” so to speak, head on right into the dark. My two top favorite tracks are “Torch Song” and “Many Ways To Die”.
These were both so emotional to put out there yet so cool and moving, that they will always be on the top of my list. When I wrote “Torch Song”, I set out to write a great 1940’s style siren’s torch song.
I was having a vision that felt like I lived in another life and time like the 1500’s or something and this man whom I loved was living through this with me. It’s odd because I feel like I know this man in my lifetime today too… Weird huh? What a mystery! And “Many Ways To Die” was such a play on words and Toms guitar playing so off the hook HOT, this track always makes me move. “Falling At Your Feet” and “Faithless Heart” are two more favs on this collection too because they are really hopeful tracks and there is always a place for those in my heart. I like the dreamy stuff and the deep stuff. These both stand out to me. One more mention and that is to not miss “Always Been Poor” and “The Lost Years”
Two outstanding expressive tracks that will ignite your fire one way or another! Both songs extremely difficult to sing and put out there because they had sad content, but what I tend to do is to sing the sad stuff and then have the uplifting truth come along too in the same song. It really works for me making it really groovy and really heavy all at the same time! HA!

Have an inside look at our recent recording session

We headed into the studio last week to record drums for the new rockin collection of great tracks due out spring 2009. Recorded at Soundtek Studios in Campbell, CA; and engineered by Thom Duell, with Tom Landry (guitarist) and Craig Martin on drums~ A good time was had by all. Now Tom knows he needs to call me QUEEN but he slipped up and called me the B word. It's not easy being the only woman with all this testosterone floating around. I gave him a good spanking after the session. Check out this cool video.

The Holidays are fast approaching and with so much negative news of our country's economy, we are all seeking new ways to find the cheer this year. Now we can find this by the simple things we enjoy most, like decorating a tree, putting up lights or creating wonderful new delights.

There are many ways to discover this holiday happiness, but one you do not want to miss is through the discovery of unique new music. Music that uplifts the heart and soul and puts a song in your step.

Many know and believe music has the power to elevate and effortlessly change a mood to rising above and away worldly thoughts, transcending limits and bounds. Even if one has not read the highly acclaimed book "This Is Your Brain On Music" by Daniel J. Levitin one may understand the idea that there is a science to this splendor of music that seems as if to descend from the hand of God.

Music is good medicine and living without our favorite recordings and soul touching serenades is almost like living without food or water. It feels dark, desolate and lonely. Finding the music our souls need to wake can be challenging in the new music frontier with so much to choose from. That is why it is with great gratitude my hat goes off to all the elves who have assisted Big Fuss Records and Miss Kristin with the creation and production of splendid new music. Extra special praise to Tom Landry, Brett Tyson, Michelle Pollace Mills, Robert Berry, Robert Holme, Craig Martin, Suzanne Weller, Donnie Woodruff, Nancy Ourricariet, Erick Thorton, Thom Duell, Alison Daniel, Terry Schultz as well as others (you know who you are). My heartfelt admiration, honor and thanks for your efforts. (I would not be where I am today without you gifted souls.)

CHANGE BECOMES AN EXCITING ADVENTURE

The whirlwind of change blows ~history in the making~
Change happens and all around change is what everyone is talking about.
From our government elections to big business on Wall Street, change is inevitable and it will continue to occur for good or bad depending on how we see it through our own eyes.

However we may view and judge the changing events that fill our lives, it is one thing to go with the flow, and quite another to get caught in a cloud and not be able to see and freely move with necessary growth and adapting. In other words, blocking the flow and experiencing stagnation.

I believe this happens when we unnecessarily attach to people and outcomes.
Desert Seas is finally complete and we are releasing the collection on the Big Fuss Records label November 15th 2008. I am thankful for the journey. Some things are worth the wait.

I am not a perfectionist but a realist and lover in creating my music.
It is most important for me to gather and express all possible emotion in a moment, creating a moving and heart touching lyric and melody. This is the basis of a great song. All the production in the world will not help a song that just doesn’t have heartfelt feeling!

Today with the music industry changing rapidly, and with myspace being such a great portal of exposure for the independent artist- one has to follow their own heart and do the best they can with what they have got because it really does come down to touching hearts.

I think a lot of the highly exposed and marketed manufactured rock and various other highly produced pop style music is waning on the everlasting and sell-ability mostly due to deeply touching the listener. This music sounds cool when you first listen, but then the craving for it does not exist frequently because it is missing something very real. (my personal opinion) It is compressed and processed to sound cool, contemporary, and big. Some think this steely production is called “radio ready”.
Well I am all for being radio ready and having great sound, and I will continue my journey in learning to become a great producer; but I choose not to spend thousands of dollars on processes, and more of my thousands on marketing.
My goal is to tug on your heartstrings and with “Desert Seas” I embarked on a journey with a friend who left me with half the bag, and am I glad he did. My sound genius friend got me going by doing a bit over half of my mixes on “Desert Seas”, and he blessed me with some of his great gift. He is really amazingly talented and has an outstanding ear, but he is a quirky artist guy who needs to be free to do his own thing most of the time. He does not work well on time schedules and unfortunately has a heavy load just living, and because I have a large body of work, my needs are to be as self sufficient as possible. I choose not to be dependent on others! No, I will not be like Guns And Roses, (keeping my fans waiting for the next 10 years) so, I proceed and follow my heart by doing the best I can with what I have learned and what I have within me. We do learn best from doing, and I’ve learned alot from this last production experience and have stepped up my game. I thank my friend for this.

I’ll continue to keep my recordings relatively organic and perfectly blissful in heart pounding emotion. It’s a new age and a new music game. I think its all about getting real. Just like the elections, and I encourage you all to vote. Find your voice and use it! Be real and honest and unafraid. (Lord help me)
That is my advice and the way I choose to live my life.

Part II My Favorite Things~ The Early Years

Let’s start with my earliest writings, “The Secret Of Your Heart”.

This album was written first, but finished and released later than “Trouble Child” and “You Cant Hide Love”. “The Secret Of Your Heart” features my earliest writings and is a very 80’s rock style. This was my coming awake album, the time when I realized my gifts and desire to express myself. The title track did pretty well and charted on radio for a time, and really all the songs are special and tell my story. But by far my favorite track is “Stardust”. I wrote the song thinking of my brother who died years before. He was 19 and got hit by a train.(or jumped into one)(I will never know) but he was my best friend growing up and this event devastated me and my family. I could never really sing “Stardust” live, I was too broken.

Now years later, it is a joy to sing and a most beautiful track.

Other fav’s on the “Secret” album are “The Only One”, “Never Give Up” and “One For Me”. I guess at this time of writing I found my purpose and reason for living on. “Little Child” was a testament to that. “Little child, now dry your tears, it’s a new day, now don’t you fear”.

Next in line, “You Can't Hide Love”! “You Cant Hide Love” was the beginning of my journey with Robert Berry assisting in production and creation of the musical parts. This was also the beginning of my alliance with Alison Daniel as artist and visionary.
Two great unique people and many other exceptional musicians went into the making of this classic rock jewel.
“You Can't Hide Love” should not be missed if you are or become a real fan of Miss Kristin music. With songs like, “Sex Weapon”, “What A Feeling”, and “The Earthquake Song”; this collection is the most timeless collection I’ve ever produced.

It garnered much attention overseas, and put me on the rock star map. Now my personal favorite song from this collection is by far “Rockin Away”. Chances are you will hear it live at one of my shows one day. “Rockin Away” came at a time I had realized that rock and roll was my true love and what I came to the planet to do. I’d loved and lost multiple times by then and made a conscious choice not to marry and have children but to devote my life to music. How nuts is that? It seems against everything we women live and stand for, but for me it was my truth, and still is. There’s more to the story, but I’m still “Rockin Away”.

Next came “ Trouble Child”. “Trouble Child” was my funnest and the beginning of my new age sounding music. I was steering in a new direction and it was exciting! I’ve always had people attempt to classify me and this collection had them guessing. Was Kristin Contemporary Christian? New Age? Rock? Pop? I called it “New Age Folk Rock”. My hope was to be real, and not worry what people thought, just to be me as pretty and as ugly at times as it was.
“Trouble Child” tells the beautiful story of finding my way to loving myself and facing the judge within.
Don’t miss this song (Trouble Child) it is excellent.
Every song within this collection is really something special to me as it tells my story. I was in jail at the time when I wrote most of it. I was busted for drug possession, (thank God) saved my life. Meth, and coke…whatever I could get my hands on. It’s not a new story so I won’t go into it. I’m just glad I went through it and came out the other side. My other especially favorite track from this collection is,
“Love The Most Excellent Way”. Please have a listen or download the single from Itunes. It’s heavy, and well worth the listen.

When the dreams come true.

Thank God we have the songs we create, sing and listen to, to comfort us in the times we have no choice but to wait…and then wait some more.

My vision is great and my means are small. My dreams when returned to me were returned in grandeur. At times it might appear to be more beneficial to not be so centered on my dreams,but alas they are my light and lamp through this dark and beautiful world.

So I wait and I keep my mind set on these dreams through my imagination at all times.

I’m sure many of my musical dreams are like yours; A rockin world tour, America, Europe, Australia, Canada, China… Imagining my set list with the songs I want to cover and of course my personal favorites! My theatrical performance and costumes…Jamming with the hottest rock artists from the past and present…Bono, Madonna, Jimmy Page.

Meeting with publicity hounds and doing interviews for radio and TV around the clock. Riding the whirlwind of music wave in bliss….let me go on…

I love half my songs a ton, and the other half not so much. Funny, huh? The ones I love not so much probably because they expose a dark place in me or are really hard to sing. Some are sentimental and healing and some are pure fantasy get your yaya’s out and pleasure.

With seven albums already released and another three in production on the way, I thought it would be a great time to let you in on my favorites from each collection so far.

I also thought it would be fun to create a video of a few of my favorite things to go along with this blog. So be sure to check out the video on my page. It’s quick and pretty cool.

Blessing and a Curse

Woaaa… it’s not easy viewing myself in pictures and video~
I feel cursed and blessed - It’s very intense.
I’ve been blessed and cursed with this body builder’s physique; the structure of a Grecian goddess.

Now I am 50% Greek and 25% Swedish and another 25% Norwegian. That’s it. And when God handed out the genes of Olympia I guess I was near because my body cries out “pump you up” to me with every photo!

It’s difficult enough creating personal songs that reveal the heart let alone exposing one’s self also through the video and photography medium. I’m sure many of you artists will agree, it’s always a challenge to be ok with what you release. Be it music, photos, video, art, and to feel great about it.

We artists tend to be perfectionists and often times we end up taking a lot of takes to get the best shot and such. And then even then we are iffy and critical when we look at the work.

Well, I have trained with the vision of being a great performer for 16 years consistently and my foundation is thick and strong now. Kinda like when Janet Jackson and Madonna came out, they were thick and strong and then got their cuts from touring. (I always believed this would be true for me to)

I felt and believed a great performer who was able to dance and sing at the same time had to have a lot of endurance. So for years I diligently listened to all kinds of music to encourage me while training and Steven Curtis Chapman’s “When the Rubber Hits the Road”, still stands out to me. I guess that’s because when my opportunity to fly arrives, I’ve planned to be fully prepared and capable of the grueling and pleasurable task of touring. By then I hope to be “in the zone” for the duration of the task. Now sometimes with the way the music biz looks I ask myself am I a bit nutty? Might I be diluted?

With gas prices so high and ticket sales for shows down, it is easy to get into doubt. Alas though I continue to train to keep what I have gained.
If not only for my health, strength, and wellbeing.

And even though sometimes I feel like I may look like I am going out for the wrestling team I prevail.

I’ll keep putting the pics and vid’s out until one day….I get that call saying
WoW- Would you like to be on American Gladiators? Just kidding. :-0

My Cure for Anxiety - Desert Seas

Lord knows it's hot outside, and for the first day of summer, June 21st, a real mixture of light and dark in California. Sun, rain and heat, fires burning and a spring of drought ~we've been going to extremes, just like "Desert Seas" ...and I am putting the finishing touches on this Moby like collection. Along with it come some laughs and the occasional tears. I guess I like going from one extreme to another. (I tell myself....)

Desert Seas evolved and was birthed through anxiety.
I was changing again with new people around, and everyone going to the beat of thier own drummers.
My antidote was to sit down at the recording equipment in the evenings and musically medicate myself into relaxation. These melodies were comforting. I was coming down into it. So this unique collection has a calming effect on me and others who have had the opportunity to listen. Music the medicine. Funny though it has a lot of energy too. I love tribal beats and so I had some real fun with some cool rhythms! Always an experiment; 'twas much fun and much learning.

I composed the album entirely and played all the instruments except for on the final track "After The War", where my friends from CHAM, Donnie Woodruff (played jazz piano) and Nick Jaramillo offered up his poem "Soldiers Prayer".

My good friend Terry Schultz of Schultz Painting is about to tackle the art work. So if all things go well, we should be releasing it say early September.

The thing with me is I have this huge catalog of some 2000 songs I wrote over 10 years of my life. I really pray hard to stay focused and to keep on creating as to leave my legacy. I believe I have a story to tell. A brave one.

New Computer Fun!!

Oh My Gosh!! I have gone computer crazy!

I am having a blast!

Lucky me, to meet so many interesting people while searching for a new computer for portable pro tools recording.

I'm sure most people by now have heard of Craigslist, right? Well I have been seeking a good used macbook to take here and there, and Craigslist has me in its hooks...Searching for a Macbook with recording capabilities is super fun and addicting! I've got to get the best deal too and then be ready to fly when it shows. The best deals have a line of people seeking too! When I get something in my head that I want to do, I am pretty persistant.... I usually find a way and persist until I have achieved my goal! (Thank God above I am the same way with my music.) But really, women love to shop and I am 100 % woman and if I could I would shop all day! I can see why some people like those kind of jobs, assisting others in attaining what they need! (I believe they are called personal shoppers.)

I think if I were not in a full time music biz, I would definitely consider this line of work! HaHA! But since I am a busy musician and label owner as well, I may have to hire my own personal shopper one day. I guess I better enjoy it now while I can!

And when I come down from my shopping high, I hope to get back to the new age record ("Desert Seas") I am almost finished producing!

Fun Times Ahead At Radio !

We have two special radio dates coming up we wanted to let you in on.

First Nightime Superstars will be featuring Miss Kristin music this Monday night April 14th in the UK at 10:45 PM UK time. That is 2:45 PM in the US. The name of the station is Radio Cabin - Tune in for "Always Been Poor" !

Also, April 29th at 10:00 AM, Miss Kristin with Tom Landry will be at the KFOG San Fransisco studio’s for a local music program.

Sunday Morning Come Again

My favorite time of day is by far the morning. I've always been one to wake up relatively happy. A few of the highlights of my mornings are to enjoy the aromatic coffee brewing, and to read my morning news and email while drinking the daily blend. I love the quiet before the phone begins it's ringing and the list of things to do flashes brighter and brighter through my head space.

Today being Sunday I tend to relax more.
Sunday's are special because I, like you I am sure, am pretty driven to work hard most of the week. By the time Sunday comes, I relish in the relaxation of doing little. For today, I shall prepare to go downtown San Jose to CHAM Community Homeless Alliance Ministry where I like to show up and visit my friends who come out to worship and fellowship. It's a wild time in the Lord. Pastor Scott Wagers is like a Rock Star for church.
He enters the sanctuary in his shades and has this Elvis persona, this coolness thing about himself. This church is definitely a street ministry, where most attendees have one time or another looked a little tore up from the floor up! But it is this character that I love about it. It always reminds me to stay humble and and to remember; the least of these....

Today, I have new friends joining me at CHAM. So it should be fun.
I have been sitting out from singing lately as I have needed time to re-group after working hard to release "The Runner".

When I return home, my hope is I will have the quiet time to prepare a few new tracks for the next album we are already working on titled, "Free".

The New Album; THE RUNNER Expose~

"THE RUNNER" is shaping up to be what it is...
A dark and beautiful, lovely creation meant to heal me personally.
Some time back, I turned a corner in looking at my life and where I had been with the deception and unbelief in and all around me.
I chose to expose it in hopes of transformation. (myself and others)
I knew I could not possibly be the only one in the world feeling this way/having this hurt and awakening, so I chose to do the brave thing and sing about it.
Singing this music was never easy;
My heart ached beautifully.

So this collection is a bit of a purge so to speak.
I'm glad it has come to fruition and is finally heading out into the universe.
I am letting go of it now...I have no expectations, only new resolve for a bright future.

And for your information: This music was recorded in my personal "2High 2Die Recording studio with myself and Tom Landry doing most all the work.
We did go into Soundtek Studios in Campbell to record drums with Craig Martin and Robert Holmes on the kit. We had Norman Gonzalez on bass with Tom on "FLIM FLAM MAN" and Erick Thorton on Harmonica on "ALWAYS BEEN POOR".
All other work was myself, Miss Kristin and Tom Landry.

I am a writer first, then a vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist so it's nice to be able to get so much tracking done on my own.
Tom is an exceptional multi-instrumentalist. (too many instruments to list here)

These mixes you are hearing are my pre - mixes with mastering by myself as well .
I have been studying mixing and mastering and doing my own work for my previous four albums.
I do have an experienced team of talent at my right hand for advising and it's been a wonderful learning journey with seven albums to date.
My mantra is; do the best you can with what you've got.

Miss Kristin Commentary on Album Art

Standing out amongst the sea of artists in today’s music scene in not an easy task. With the plethora of discs and new music coming out on a regular basis, one must shine forth unique from more than one angle. Not only does it seem to be about superior writing, vocal talent and great production,
but the album cover art must stand out as well.

In today’s modern times with video on demand and CD’s lining the shelves with artist faces, each new album cover seems a new fangled attempt to strike a more striking pose than the one before. One collection after another, like cookie cutters to win the attention of fearless fans willing to shell out 15.00 bucks for what we still like to call great art.

Somehow, these plastic or paper cd covers with all the special liner notes and thank you’s, are not the collectors item or necessity they once were.

Several of my favorite records when I was a wee child growing up were the Yes albums. I loved the Roger Dean art style and the unique progressive music of this band. Each album had a vision of greatness with a graphic / cover art picture painted that wowed and stated “We’ve Arrived!” These records were different and a must have even before listening. I would look forward to and waited for each release to see what this great band would deliver. The art alone made this record a treasure itself. The Yes albums were a collector’s series. Not just one album release but consecutive releases featuring the artistry of Roger Dean.

I loved holding these records and showing them off to my friends.
Somehow the package with the music enclosed touched my heart deeply.
These records became keepsakes of my moderate collection.

Being Miss Kristin, I am often asked why not put my face or a photo of myself on the cover of my collections? Industry executives seem to think I need a photo like many other mainstream artists. It’s not that I would not, but more that I prefer and love the Naïve art of my associate and dear friend Dizz Daniel. Naïve art is characterized by a childlike simplicity. Grandma Moses etc… Having the art of Dizz Daniel on a series of my recordings speaks louder to me and makes the music and the disc itself a unique treasure, a true collector’s item. A “must have” so to speak.

In these times of disposable cd’s and digital downloads, resembling an assembly line of contemporary characters vying for a moments top spot; here today, gone tomorrow, it is with great care that I choose to develop something unique. Yes, it’s been done before, but my hope and belief is that years from now, in time, my humble and lovely extraordinary music catalog and collection will become a necessary classic rock collection, a treasure for one and all.

Miss Kristin is readying her seventh disc titled “The Runner” due out March 2008.

By far one of my favorite things to do in this life, is to write.

For this reason, it made perfect sense for me to begin a blog, a place where I would share my thoughts and writings for you the fans.
